At Dark Sky Alpacas we specialise in Suri and are passionate about using their amazing fleece to make beautiful products. The idea for a unique tartan was born from our Celtic connections and it's ideally suited to show off all the colours of our herd.
Alpaca is one of the world's most luxurious fibres and Suri Alpaca is particularly unique - the fleece is extremely fine, smooth and lustrous and brings a wonderful drape to woven fabric. The yarn for the Tartan Alpaca collection is a blend of 72% Suri and 28% Huacaya (the other type of alpaca).
The pallete for the tartan design was the alpacas in our field - there's no dye, just natural colours from the Dark Sky alpacas of Cornwall
A completely unique tartan pattern, registered on the Scottish Register of Tartans no 13424
Our limited edition woven scarves, shawls, throws, flat caps and cloth are only made from the Dark Sky alpacas herd - completely traceable 'farm to fashion'. They are all presented in beautiful boxes and make a very special gift.
